Applications for the Young Scientist Exchange Program (YSEP) must be submitted by the December deadline and year-long (2 semester) exchanges are recommended. Students must have completed at least 3 years of undergraduate study before commencing a YSEP exchange.

Country Notes

The Ministry of Justice has tightened regulations for students coming to Japan to study due to students coming with insufficient funds. Students now need to state how they will finance their studies and may require proof. A recommended budget is about ¥150,000 per month (about A$1,800) and about ¥30-50,000 per semester (about A$370–620) on textbooks.
