The University of British Columbia was established in 1908 and has been situated on a Pacific Ocean peninsula called Point Grey bordering the city of Vancouver since 1925. A second campus, UBC Okanagan was opened in September 2005 as a distinctive, small university campus in a valley in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
UBC is one of Canada's leading learning and research universities, and is consistently ranked among the world's top 50 universities. It has 46,900 students (38,900 are enrolled in undergraduate programs and 8,000 are enrolled in graduate programs) drawn from more than 120 countries.

Notes

1. For exchanges beginning in semester 2, 2009 and there after, ALL applications for exchange to the University of British Columbia (UBC) must be submitted by the December deadline. No applications will be accepted for exchange to UBC in the July round.

2. Applications to the University of British Columbia (UBC) for the Faculty of Applied Science (Engineering) must be submitted by the December deadline, regardless of intended start date. Music applicants who wish to take performance subjects must apply by the December deadline for year-long exchanges beginning in September. Architecture applicants must have completed 3 years of study before beginning their exchange. Exchange students seeking credit for Engineering (Applied Science) or Commerce must take a MAJORITY of their subject load in these faculties at UBC.
