Founded in 1898, Peking University (PKU) is the first national university in Chinese modern history, with a strong reputation both in China and abroad. Peking University now consists of 31 colleges and 14 departments which offer 101 undergraduate programs, 224 postgraduate programs, and 202 doctoral programs.

In 2004, over 4000 international students studied at PKU from around 80 countries, including approximately 2600 short-term students.

Notes

Students wishing to study subjects other than Chinese language at Peking University will only be able to do so in Mandarin. They will need to sit a language test when they arrive or have a current HSK language test result of Level 7 or higher.
